May 28 Updates

1. Lake Desire Meeting TONIGHT – Tuesday, 5/28/13 at 7pm  - Stafford House – Please join us for a brief meeting on Tuesday, May 28th at 7pm to vote on our flooring update options (current capital improvement project) and start planning for the Summer National Night Out BBQ. We need 7 members in attendance in order to have a vote, so if you could please spare a bit of time on that evening please reply to this email for the address. Please note that this will not be a full length meeting, just enough time for the flooring vote and other short agenda items. Thanks!
2. Additional Pit Bull incident -  We’re at the end of the 173rd Place cul-de-sac, and an unleashed pitbull and his/her owner came charging out of the woods into our backyard. The dog chased off a deer and would not respond to its owner. I don’t know if this is one of the dogs that was involved with the incident last week, but it would be nice if people would keep these things leashed. Submitted by Gayle Shea.
3. Reminder about parking at the Community Center – As our rentals have really picked up this year, please remember that parking is allowed at the Community Center only when attending a community event or rental function. Please do not use the clubhouse parking otherwise. If you have an event and need additional parking for your guests, please contact our rental coordinator, Heather Smith (heather@smith.net) for arrangements. Thank you for your assistance with this!
4. National Night Out BBQ – Tuesday, August 6th – Making summer plans? Don’t forget to mark down the Lake Desire National Night Out BBQ for August 6th, held at the Community Center. Bring a side dish, dessert or drink to share with neighbors as we participate in National Night Out, a community building event to fight crime and build better neighborhoods. The Community Club will host burgers and hot dogs and provide plates, etc. Last year we had 50 neighbors join in the fun. Let’s make it even bigger this year! http://www.natw.org/about-nno/ Questions? Please reply to this mail.

May 14 Updates

1. Plant Swap recap – we had a super time last Saturday at our annual Plant Swap at the Community Center. We had 16 people come out to have coffee and treats and share plants and their Lake Desire gardening stories. We had a raffle for plants that were graciously donated by Old Goat Farm (http://www.oldgoatfarm.com/) and raised $55 towards our capital improvement projects. Thanks again to the Likness family for coordinating the donated plants, and for everyone who came out for their participation. We hope to have an earlier date next year, possibly a Saturday in late April, 2014. See you then!
2. Lake Desire Spring Rummage Sale 5/18/13 – ONLY 2 TABLES REMAINING
This Saturday we will hold a spring garage sale in the parking lot of the Community Center starting early morning (8ish) running only until noon. If you have items to sell and would like to join in, tables can be rented for $5 donation to the community center. We will post it on Craigslist and hope to get good traffic.

Please RSVP to Heather Stafford sometime before the 18th. This is also our roadside cleanup date, so there will be lots of activity around the roads this day. staffordlkdesire@gmail.com

3. Roadside Cleanup – Sat. 5/18/13 - We will meet on Saturday, May 18th at the Boat Launch to fan out and clean up the roads around the neighborhood. We do this twice a year, May and October, and King County provides bags and will come collect the trash when we are done from the Community Center.  Can’t make it on Saturday 5/18? Feel free to pick up trash in your own area and drop it by the tree closest to the street at the Community Center any time before 5/20. Questions?
